The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the positions below at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan and its station in Abuja, Sokoto, Kaduna, Kano, Markurdi and Jalingo, Zaria.

Position: Research Supervisor (1 Year Renewable Contract)

3 Positions

Locations: Ibadan, Kano, Zaria

Responsibilities

Assist set up and conduct field experiments Including all aspects of data collectionMaintain laboratory standard operating procedures and equipmentSupervise and lead harvest teams specializing in sampling and laboratory analysesOrganize and supervise general field activitiesAssist in distribution of labour and allocation of daily responsibilitiesPerform any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor

Minimum Qualification, Experience and Skills

B.Sc/HND    in Crop Production, General Agriculture.   Horticulture   or   related discipline   from   a   reputable   institutionMinimum   experience   of  3   years   in   a similar positionBasic Knowledge of    crop management  operationsGood time management skills.Ability  to  perform  multiple  tasks  and work under pressureGood Team player

Position: Research Technician (3 Positions)

Location: Ibadan, Kano Zaria

(1 Year renewable Contract)

Responsibilities

Successful candidate will:

Collect and collate laboratory and field dataPack, label and store prepared samples for onward transfer for analysisCarry out all delegated field operationsPerform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Minimum Qualification, Experience and Skills

OND in Agriculture, plus at least (5) years post-qualification working experience in a research institution.

The ideal candidate must

Be able to follow instructions and work independently where necessary.Be able to use laboratory and field equipments and understand basic laboratory  TechniquesPossess good organizational skills and demonstrate ability to work under pressure.Be available to work outside office hours and for extended hours where necessary
