Provost Vacancy at ADEYEMI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, ONDO May 2014

ADEYEMI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, ONDO

The College Governing Council of the above named College has declared a vacancy in the office of the Provost. Applications are therefore invited from interested candidates to fill the position.

Candidates for the post must demonstrate evidence of strong academic and administrative leadership, initiative, and creativity in policy formation, good human relations and positive managerial attributes.

Position: Provost

Duties

The Provost is the Chief Executive of the College. The successful candidate would be expected to provide the required Academic, Administrative and Professional Leadership for the College in executing the broad policies laid down by the Governing Council for the achievement of the objectives for which the institution was established. He/She shall foster good rapport with the relevant organs of the Federal Ministry of Education, National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and other professional bodies that could lead to the ultimate attainment by the College of the status of Centre of Excellence for which the College has been earmarked.

Qualifications

(i)                Candidates should possess at least a Master’s Degree in a field relevant to at least one programme in the College -from a recognised University. The possession of a higher degree such as Ph.D will be an added advantage. The possession of professional teaching qualification (minimum of Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or Post   Graduate   Diploma   in   Education   (PGDE) is MANDATORY.

(ii)             Candidates must have held Senior Teaching, Research and top Administrative posts in an institution of higher learning and possess a minimum of fifteen (15) years post qualification cognate experience. Candidates must not be below the rank of Chief Lecturer in a College of Education or a Reader or Associate Professor in a University or equivalent institutions.

(iii)           Candidates should not be more than Sixty (60) years of age at the assumption of duty.

(iv)           Candidates must show evidence of good track record in result-oriented researches reaching high National and International status in their research achievement.

(v)             Candidates must be of good conduct, possess sense of discipline, dedication, drive, resourcefulness and be able to command the respect and loyalty of the members of staff and the students of the College. He/She must be somebody who is not likely to foster personal, social, ethnic, political, religious or other sectional interests.

(vi)           Preference will be given to candidates from the College of Education System.

Terms of Appointment:

(i)                The appointment is normally for a period of four (4) years in the first instance and subject to satisfactory performance, may be eligible for re-appointment for a second term of four (4) years and no more.

(ii)             The salary and fringe benefits attached to the post are as applicable to the post of a Provost in all Federal Colleges of Education in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government.
