International Medical Corps (IMC) is a global humanitarian nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and medical rebel programs. IMC has been operating in Nigeria since November 2013 building the capacity of local health system and communities, ensuring the provision of quality accessible health and Nutrition for children less than five years. With the support of various donors, IMC provides training and support for the Ministry & Health in the areas of nutrition and health in Wamakko and Binji LGAs of Sokoto State.


We are recruiting to fill the position of:


FOOD SECURITY OFFICER


Reporting to: Nutrition Coordinator
Location: Sokoto State with frequent visits to Wamakko and Banji LGA’s

Duration: 6 – Months


SUMMARY

Reporting to the Nutrition Coordinator, the Food Security Officer will provide leadership and management of all aspects of food security and livelihood integrated in CMAM project/s in Wamakko and Banji LGAs.

He/She will be responsible for the implementation of food security/cash transfer component and ensuring program quality, completion of activities within allocated funding and project period and identifying new needs for program expansion and improvement.

The Food Security Officer will be spending all of his time in both LGAs.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Respect the dignity of the beneficiaries, Care givers and members of the community

Supervise and teed the management of emergency food security activities related to ECHO projects linked to the CMAM program within Wamakko & Banji LGA’s

Organize and take an active part in field and rapid assessments, market mapping and analysis, beneficiaries’ selection in order to collect information and data needed for the design, monitoring and evaluation of cash based activities.

Responsible for cash transfer for the overall qualify of the project management and of any methodological tool used in project implementation, supporting the definition and implementation of integrated approach projects between the others.

Ensure regular project reporting in a timely manner and in compliance with donor format and guidelines Assist in any other tasks when required.


QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

University Degree, M.Sc in Agriculture, food security & livelihood or any other related field from recognized University with a minimum of three years relevant work experience on cash transfer program

Experience in program management, food security and cash transfer related duties

Experience in monitoring, evaluation and quality control

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a high result oriented work procedure

Knowledge, skill and experience in participatory methods for promoting sustainability & fend security and Cash transfer interventions.

NGO experience is a plus

Commitment to and understanding of International Medical Corps aims, values and principles

Assist in any other tasks when required


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

Ability to work as part of a team as well as to work autonomously when required.

Very good at computer – Microsoft Office (Ward, Excel, Power Point and e-mail).

Fluent spoken and written English and Hausa

Supervisory/basic managerial skills

Technical and report writing skills


PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICER


Reporting to: Nutrition Coordinator

Location: Sokoto State with frequent visits to Wamakko and Banji LGA’s

Duration: 6 – Months


SUMMARY

Reporting to the Nutrition Coordinator, the Public Health Officer will provide leadership and management of all aspects of hygiene promotion and sanitation component of IMC MASH, IYCF and CMAM project/s at Wamakko and Banji LGAs.

He/She will be responsible for the implementation and promotion of hygiene and sanitation component and ensuring program quality, completion of activities within allocated funding and project period, identifying new needs for program expansion and improvement.

The Public Health Officer will be spending all of his/her time in both LGAs.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Respect the dignity of the beneficiaries, Care givers and members of the community.

Train volunteers and incentive workers on basics of public health, education methods, approaches, and communication and facilitation skills

Coordinate and integrate with other IPs in harmonizing public health/education interventions

Undertake take need assessments and contribute in the preparation of new proposals. www.nigerianbestforum.com

Visit the wards and settlement regularly and provide on-site mentoring to hygiene and sanitation team in the ward.

Ensure that procurements are timely initiated, monitored and prioritized by the logistics team

Assist in any other tasks when required.


QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

University Degree, M.Sc in Public Health, Environmental Health or any other related field from recognized University with a minimum of three year relevant work experience in Public health with an INGO or NGO

Previous experience of implementing participatory public health and sanitation methods (e.g. PHAST, CLTS/H,) and organizing campaigns on key hygiene themes

Commitment to and understanding of International Medical Corps aims, values and principles.
