Position: Sales Application Engineer 5​

Role Summary/Purpose:    

To provide engineering support to help the sales team drive services and new business in the Oil & Gas and Marine industry.
Work with GE Oil & Gas to define solutions that encompass the full Energy Management portfolio.

Essential Responsibilities:    


The Sales Application Engineer (oil & gas and marine) demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, that meet business needs across the organization. Contribute to the overall business strategy.

– Provide technical sales support to Region Managers, Sales Managers and team
– Responsible for the sale of products, services, upgrades and total system solutions
– Provide technical expertise to Sales and Commercial Operations in selecting, implementing, and developing competitive product applications and solutions
– Responsible to support the sales team to meet orders goals for the region and by market segment
– Provide training and technical support to the Region Managers and Sales Managers
– Coordinate with sales force to make customer calls and presentations and participate in bid meetings and walk-through meetings with the customer as necessary
– Estimate GE equipment and system performance, hardware, and price for budgetary estimates
– Assess competitive system performance and hardware evaluation throughout the entire bid process
– Design packaged solutions for combination with GE Oil & Gas technology.
– Perform cycle and equipment comparisons to establish economically optimum / GE preferred cycle and configuration with involvement of and communication to the commercial teams and application engineers
– Respond to various technical questions regarding products and systems solutions
– Lead the development and maintenance of documentation of processes and information used within the Evaluation, Analysis and Pricing group for the purposes of ensuring consistency, sharing of information among team members, and training of leadership program resources (CLP / ECLP)
– Lead development and execution of CLP / ECLP training plans, coaching, mentoring
– Coordinate effective utilization of CLP / ECLP resources to assist the team wherever appropriate
– Drive motor, generator, drives and controls business through value proposition of power electronics (inverter) technology.

Qualifications/Requirements:    

– Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
– At least 5 additional years of experience in a commercial environment with sales, marketing, application engineering or customer service
– Expertise in Power Electronics and Oil & Gas
– A valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate will be required.
– Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in Nigeria

Position: Senior Sales Manager​

Role Summary/Purpose:    

To drive revenue growth primarily in the Oil & Gas and Marine verticals in Nigeria, through focus on services business and new projects. Also fulfil an influence country leadership role for Energy Management employees within Nigeria. Growth into other industrial segments will be secondary focus

Essential Responsibilities:    

The Senior Sales Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

– Provide deal team leadership for related sales within an assigned sales region through the formulation and execution of proposal strategies that capitalize on GE’s competitive strengths to serve the customer’s needs resulting in execution of definitive sales agreements
– Manage the sales proposal process from opportunity identification through contract flow down to key GE organizations
– Lead deal structuring, pricing and all other proposal development activities as the sales team’s primary proposal interface with projects, platform, global operations, risk management and other functional groups as required
– Lead deal strategy development and reviews, ultimately obtaining appropriate approvals for pricing, delivery and other commercial terms for specific sales proposals
– Support sales directors with direct customer negotiations as required
– Assist sales directors and regional general managers in identifying new opportunities and creating sales analysis for the assigned sales region

To drive revenue growth primarily in the Power vertical in Nigeria, through key account management, with focus on services business and new projects. Focus on applications such as electrical Balance of Plant (eBoP), Power Quality, and Grid Solutions across all generation types (solar, wind, thermal, hydro, etc) ensuring that the full Energy Management portfolio is promoted. Growth into other industrial segments will be secondary focus.

Responsibilities:    

The Sales Manager develops practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. In this role you will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope, utilize your understanding and experience to execute business objectives, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

– Provide leadership for sales to assigned customers through the formulation and execution for strategies and plans that capitalize on the customer’s strengths as supplemented by GE’s products and services
– Build customer relationships with the assigned customer for sales
– Support the assigned customer in sales activities and provide assistance to the customer in identifying new opportunities
– Coordinate activities and provide leadership to establish individual sales strategies obtaining appropriate approvals for pricing, and delivery
– Negotiate contracts as required
– Maintain knowledge of market trends, competitive actions, product needs, and customer base

Position: Commercial Manager 5​

Role Summary/Purpose:    

To be accountable primarily for the Oil & Gas vertical commercial operations. Drive commercial partnership and proposals with the GE Oil & Gas team for Sub Saharan Africa, and assist the Nigeria and West Africa team with comm ops service. Work across the GE Energy Management portfolio and focus secondarily on other verticals

Essential Responsibilities:    

The Commercial Manager develops practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. In this role you will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope and have the understanding and experience to execute business objectives, be involved in short-term and long-term planning and contribute to the overall business strategy.

– Responsible for all aspects of contract management, including proposal development, risk management and mitigation, specification compliance, scope development, transactional pricing, customer negotiations, customer communications and issue resolution
– Lead the transactional deal process having the ability to structure creative, commercially and technically sound quality deals as well as fully manage associated contractual issues that arise over the life of the project
– Provide leadership during the deal review process to ensure that all technical risk points, risk mitigation, and business risk acceptance levels are properly incorporated in the development of the scope, cost and proposal wording
– Interface with the Region Sales teams to develop commercial strategies and solutions that will meet customer requirements as well as meet or exceed business goals
– Coordinate the output of proposals to insure the production schedule dates are met and that a quality proposal is issued to the customer.
– Meet order budget, proposal timeliness (VTW), cycle time, hit Rate / win Rate, DPMO reduction and project profitability
– Develop appropriate Terms and Conditions for standard Customer proposals based on Risk / Reward Analysis
– Drive the full Energy Management portfolio
– Develop niche expertise within eBoP, O&G, mining, LV and MV switchboards, and services applications
– Connect with the Energy Management global comm ops teams to leverage knowledge base for applications

Qualifications/Requirements:    

– Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in a contract negotiation or sales role
– At least 3 additional years of commercial experience with the ability to structure creative deals for customer solutions, negotiate contracts, and deal effectively with customers
– A valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate will be required.
– Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in Nigeria


Additional Eligibility Qualifications:    

Desired Characteristics:    

– Prior experience in sales, commercial finance, contract negotiation and execution is preferred
– Strong business acumen
– Knowledge of how transactions affect the business model (both GE and customer)
– Knowledge of legal aspects and implications of contracts, terms and conditions, negotiation, etc to allow constructing contracts with minimizing risk
– Industry knowledge / competitive landscape understanding at a transaction level
– Ability to influence and lead cross functional teams
– Six Sigma training is preferred (GE emloyees only)
