The gynecologist obstetrician is responsible for the general coordination of women’s healthcare, with particular emphasis on maternity services.


Profile
DIPLOMA: has a medical doctor diploma in gynecology-obstetrics.

SKILLS: solid surgical skills (caesareans, hysterectomies, ectopic pregnancies, complicated deliveries, management of high risk pregnancies, etc.)

AVAILABILITY: 3 to 4 weeks minimum.

LANGUAGES: English-speaking.

MSF IS LOOKING FOR:

ANESTHESIOLOGISTS FOR HER PROJECTS IN NIGERIA AND ABROAD


The doctor anaesthetist is responsible for the delivery of pre-operative care, anaesthesia and post-operative care. He/she (hereafter referred to as he) provides fitting pain management in line with MSF protocols.


In 2013, anaesthesia was administered in 34 689 cases. A high proportion were administered to children: 23% children under 10 years old and 6% of children under 2 years old. In total, 114 doctor anaesthetists and 82 nurse anesthetists left for the field in 2013. 25% of the doctors and 13% of the nurses were conducting their “first mission”.

MSF IS LOOKING FOR:

SURGEONS FOR HER PROJECTS IN NIGERIA AND ABROAD


The surgeon is responsible for performing surgical procedures and delivering post-operative surgical care in line with MSF protocols He/she (hereafter referred to as he) practices emergency surgery, general surgery, surgery in areas of violence and reparatory surgery.


Since 2007, the number of surgical procedures performed within MSF missions has risen by 8 – 10% per year. In 2013, 52% of surgical activity was traumatology (26% of which was burns), 14% obstetrics and 6% abdominal surgery.


In 2013, over 33 000 procedures were performed on some 14 500 patients. This entailed 177 surgeons leaving for the field, including 16 plastic surgeons, 30 obstetricians and 13 orthopaedists.


Profile

DIPLOMA: has a diploma in general surgery, abdominal/gastric, orthopaedic and traumatology, gynaecology-obstetrics, reconstructive plastic (general, hand, burns), maxillo-faciale, urology, etc.

EXPERIENCE : 2 years after obtaining the diploma, able to perform cesarean sections

AVAILABILITY: minimum 4 weeks.

LANGUAGES: English.
