Job Title: Clinical and Training Officer



Locations: Cross River, Enugu and Ondo

Reporting to:Social Franchise Manager/Regional Manager

Duration of Contract: 2 years (renewable)

Probationary period: 6 months



Job Description


  • The post holder is required to demonstrate: initiative;

    energy; persistence; results orientation; drive; integrity and

Overall Responsibility


  • Working with and reporting to the MSN Manager for Social

    Franchise, Social Franchise Clinical and Training Officer will

    be responsible for the mapping, facility audit, selection,

    trainings, undertaking supportive supervision, distribution of

    equipment and FP commodities, ensuring adherence to MSI quality

    standards in assigned specific states etc.

Specific Responsibilities

Facility Identification, Recruitment and Provider Training:


  • Implements MSION and SF policies, procedures, guidelines

    and manuals;

  • Conducts mapping and facility audit of clinics to be

    recruited for BlueStar network membership;

  • Work proactively and responsibly to ensure recruited

    franchisees undergo the theoretical and practical training in

    line with MSION Standards;

  • Request budget, notify franchisees of training, oversee

    training, prepares both physical and financial report following

    completion of the trainings etc.

  • Ensures Social Franchising Programme is implemented

    according to the approved donor agreements and interest of

    MSION;

  • Prepares his/her annual plan of operation based on the

    annual business Plan of MSION;

Supply, Referral Systems and Networking:


  • Lead distribution of supplies, commodities and manage

    collection of cash on supply of items, in line with the medical

    supply distribution guideline.

  • Ensure the availability of documentation, reporting,

    referral formats, guidelines, manuals and job aids used by

    franchised clinics in adequate quantity and track referral

    linkages of service utilization;

  • Facilitate, follow up and support franchisees’ referral and

    reporting of incidents related to franchised services;

  • Facilitate liaison of franchised clinics with other

    institutions for demand generation, training practicum, linking

    and learning

Monitoring, Supportive Supervision and Reporting:


  • Conducts monthly or bi-monthly supportive supervision of

    franchisees;

  • Support franchised clinics in clinical documentation,

    record keeping and ensures timely submission of reports.

  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly franchisees

    performance reports on training and quality assessment

    activities of SF operation in assigned states;

  • Ensure franchisees maintain and comply quality across all

    areas of SF Operation in line with established standards set by

    government and MSI.

  • Lead reviews meetings aimed at performance improvement

    based on supportive supervision, mentorship and quality

    assessments findings

  • Documents best practices and /lessons learned from MSN’s SF

    operation

  • Any other duty reasonably assigned by line manager

Qualifications, Capabilities/Skills and

Experience


  • Diploma or Degree in Clinical Nursing or Midwifery

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in FP service delivery,

    supportive supervision and quality assessment; (Experience in

    long acting and permanent FP service delivery preferred)

  • 3-5 years demonstrated technical knowledge and successful

    expertise in designing, managing clinical trainings in resource

    poor settings.

  • Experience of DfiD, USAID, Gates funded projects, including

    working in a diverse team environment preferred

  • Familiarity with the different cultural, social and

    religious identities in Nigeria, international health,

    development issues and the international donor community

  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation

    skills. Ability to ‘sell’ the services that MSN offers in a way

    that attracts franchisees to join the network.

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication

    skills

  • Experience of working with private healthcare sector

    operators is desirable;

  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software

    packages

  • Willingness to frequently travel to project implementation

    sites;


Job Title: Social Franchise Manager



Locations: Abuja

Reporting to: Assistant Director, Operations

Duration of Contract: 2 years (renewable)

Job Description


  • This role reports to the Assistant Director, Operations and

    provides strategic leadership to MSION on all matters relating

    to Social Franchising in MSION’s strategic goals.

  • S/he leads and manages oversight of the successful delivery

    of work setting and meeting ambitious CYP targets, delivering

    and reporting against all contract commitments and leading a

    motivated and innovative SF team.

  • The post is part of the Programmes Operations Team which

    aims to deliver programmes of high impact across the majority

    of Nigeria’s states using four integrated channels of

    intervention: Social Franchise, Outreach, Sales and Marketing;

    and a Marie Stopes Centre.

  • Within this team the SF Manager uses his or her excellent

    understanding of the business model to realize a successful

    franchise model complementary to interventions in other

    channels and reaching high numbers of couples with a

    sustainable service.

Knowledge:


  • A degree in Public Health or equivalent experience in

    particular in relation to running a similar health delivery

    project

  • Project management/development qualification an advantage

  • Good knowledge of the health sector in Nigeria an important

Job Description


  • The post is part of the Programmes Operations Team which

    aims to deliver programmes of high impact across the majority

    of Nigeria’s states.

  • It plays a key creative and energising role in creating

    demand for MSION’s services raising awareness of the types of

    services available, disseminating information about the

    services and their importance and stimulating interest in

    clients to use them.

  • Using a range of techniques, they reach different segments

    of the market (adolescents, married, unmarried, younger, older,

    men, women) and inform MSION’s delivery teams of the specific

    needs of these groups so that services can be amended

    accordingly.

  • MSION CMMOs work with Social Franchise outlets, MSION’s

    clinic and Outreach teams. They link with the MSION Sales

    teams.

Key Duties in Relation to the

Knowledge/Qualifications:


  • CMMOs must be able to speak with authority and confidence

    about community attitudes and family planning.

  • They must therefore have knowledge gained through study or

    equivalent professional experience on modern contraception,

    health services and local community organisation

  • Computer literate is an advantage

  • Able to communicate fluently in the local Nigerian Language

  • Good understanding of the local area and ability to

    investigate and analyse

Responsibilities



General:


  • To give high quality client-focused care in all services

    rendered to clients.

  • To support MSN in its Goal and Objectives where

    appropriate.

  • To support and implement core MSI values within the centre,

    such as de-medicalization, task shifting, client focus, no

    blame culture, non-hierarchical management and marketing

  • To participate fully in MSN Institutional strengthens and

    Capacity Building activities where appropriate.

Partnership and network building:


  • Assist to oversee the work schedules & Strengths of all

    clinical team working within the centres and outreach.

  • Encourage a commitment to accommodating clients’ special

    needs such as flexibility on working hours, strict privacy and

    confidentiality to generate demand for MSIN services.

  • Have a public relations and promotional role with

    colleagues, NHS and the general public

  • Identify appropriate training needs within clinic centre

    teams and, in consultation with the

  • Centre Manager, arrange for appropriate trainings and

    induction of new teams.

  • Timely collate and submit incidence reports to the centre

    coordinator

  • Monitor monthly outreach results and in collaboration with

    the centre coordinator and make appropriate recommendation to

    meet set targets.

Clinical Responsibilities:


  • Provide core MSIN Clinical services including

  • Professional management of client complaints and/or

    clinical incidences both at the outreach and at the centre

  • To work closely with other clinical team members in service

    delivery especially in delegated areas of duty.

  • To promote the concept of family planning through health

    education.

  • To provide high quality family planning counselling and

    method provision while respecting client’s rights.

  • To assist in compilation of data and preparation of reports

    including reports of serious incidents.

  • To assist in keeping the clinical equipment and facilities

    clean and in good working condition.

  • Adequate and timely requisition of items, stock management

    and record keeping

  • To support MSN in achieving its various targets.

  • To perform any other duties as may be required by the Line

    Manager.

Communication and Administration:


  • Keep and manage records of all outreach activities

    including minutes of teams meetings.

  • Ensure formal communications with the various health

    partners are properly documented

  • Follow up on all clients complaints relating to any of the

    MSIN services and make recommendations.

  • Make proper use of available information systems in MSI to

    facilitate service delivery & trainings

  • Assist the Marketing Team with interviews relating to

    clinical issues to protect MSIN reputation.

Qualifications


  • Must have a recognised clinical qualification in Midwifery,

    nursing or Community Health.

  • Must be registered with a recognised local clinical

    professional body in Nigeria and of good Standing

  • At least 1 year post-graduation experience in a clinical

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a Driver shall include:


  • Maintaining a high level of professionalism in driving

    assigned persons at all times.

  • To ensure that MSION attains high standard quality care of

    vehicles at all times.

  • To ensure that vehicles are in good working conditions at

    all times.

  • To report all damages to Procurement/Logistics Officer for

    necessary action.

  • To channel all requests for repairs, maintenance, and fuel

    through the Logistics Officer.

  • To ensure that all keys are safely kept the in the key box.

  • To run project vehicle/s as appointed by the State Team

    Leader or any other manager.

  • To keep daily record of vehicle mileage.

  • To collect weekly itinerary from the State Team Leader

  • To return all vehicles to office immediately after approved

    use.
