Hi
guys, a very happy Sunday to you all. I hope you are having a
great time. I totally am.
It’s a known fact that many job seekers in Nigeria already
have a job. Little wonder a good number of them own blackberry
phones. Lol. Just kidding.

Times could arise when you might need to edit your CV or Cover
Letter to suit a specific job before sending it out to the
employers. Sometimes also, you might not have quick access to a
desktop computer where you can use Microsoft Word.
What then do you do? Send the documents like that? Or Ignore
the job?
Please don’t! This is one of the major mistakes many job
seekers make. Sending a generic CV/Cover Letter that is not
tailored to a specific job reduces your chances of getting the
job. And of course ignoring a job makes you automatically lose
the job.
You have to find a way to always edit your documents and mail
them with your blackberry device while on the go without having
to depend on a desktop computer!
Today, I am going to show you how to edit your CV(word
document) on blackberry using Word To Go.
Word To Go, along with PDF To Go, Sheet to Go, SlideShow To Go,
is a component of Documents To
Go which is a software bundle that comes
pre-installed on most blackberry devices.

Using Documents To Go, you can view PDF files and view, edit,
and format Microsoft Word
documents, Microsoft Excel
spreadsheets, and Microsoft
PowerPoint presentations on your
"en-us">BlackBerry device.
It comes pre-installed on most
blackberry devices. But the version that comes pre-installed
might be lacking in some other features you might need for some
of your day to day tasks. Like the ability to create new
documents right from your blackberry or spell checking in word
documents etc. All these features are available on the premium
version of the software. An upgrade to the premium version
would cost you about
$49.99 (about =N=8,000). Unless you can afford it, I’d advise
you stick to the standard pre-installed version.
Since you can’t create new word documents right from your
blackberry device using the standard version of Word To Go, You
can just import your already created document either with a USB
cable or sent and downloaded via email.
Here are the steps to edit your document:
- On your blackberry home, navigate and click on
Applications, you’ll find the Word
To Go app. Click on it. It will take you to a window
where you can open recent documents or open a file from any
location on your device. You can navigate to the location where
you saved your CV to open it.
- Once open, Word To Go usually keeps a document in view
mode(you cannot edit or write to documents in this mode). You
will need to set it to Edit mode to be able to modify your
document.
- To switch to Edit mode, click on the blackberry icon button
(home button), then scroll down and click on Edit
Mode. Then click inside the document to start
editing.
- Basically, on this standard version of Word To Go, you are
restricted to adding and modifying words on your document. You
can’t spell check, add hyperlinks, add tables, add bullets and
numbering etc. In most cases, I believe this standard version
can help you give a minor touch to your CV before dishing it
out to employers.
- Once done, switch to View Mode. To quickly attach and mail
your CV to an employer email address, click on the home button
(blackberry icon) and then Send via Email.
The document automatically attaches itself to the body of your
mail. You can then type your mail and send. Viola!
Sit back and relax, you never can tell, you might be called
this time.
Good luck guys. More tips are coming from me.
