POSITION TITLE Zonal Energy Manager
REPORTING TO : Chief Technical Officer
LOCATION: Lagos, Nigeria
JOB PURPOSE:
Plan, Control, Manage, Support and Track day to day network power
operations, power upgrades and energy Opex reduction to ensure continuous
optimal power availability of 99.9% and reduced network operating expenses
to meet AOP targets.

Responsible for day to
day management of all

maintenance (O&M) ,
power upgrade, site
fueling and diesel
delivery for the
responsible zone to
deliver optimal
availability and perpetual
quality ( Customer)
End-to end operational management of the entire power network and
infrastructure to provide power to Core/IN/VAS, BTS, BSCs, BBs etc,
in the region
Plan and implement excellent maintenance schedule on all passive
equipment at all BTS, BSC, Transmission, MSC, Data centres within
the responsible zone
Plan the requirements and control implementation of network power
equipment upgrades and expansions of major switch sites/data
centers, BSC, BB, BTS sites for the responsible zone.
Managing of Airtel Partners, contractors and consultant interface on
requirements and procedures for the replacement and repair of all
network power equipment.
Manage and ensure ISM deliverables, MS and all other support
contracts between Airtel and Airtel partners.
Support the Operational Interface to both internal and external
stakeholders especially commercial, Customer Service Delivery
(CSD) and IT teams for the responsible zone.
Passive Spares request and replacement management to ensure
availability of both critical and non-critical spares.
Ensure adherence to return and repair process
Plan and coordinate the replacement and repair of all Airtel network
power equipment and installations such as old generators, air
conditioners & HVAC units, bad rectifier batteries transformers,
stabilizers, power panels, inverters, UPS, Fire protection and warranty
claims.
Managing resolution of passive alarms and crisis due to
emergency/unexpected break down of critical network power
equipment
Provide design and support; suggest changes to specification and
standards to regional personnel and vendors on preventive and
corrective maintenance programme on power equipment for more
efficient operation
Provide training for FMEs and supervisor in the zone on new products
and on the job trainingPlan the monthly diesel fuel requirement to for sites in the responsible
zone after taking into consideration sites with working hybrid, PHCN,
IPMS, Solar, etc
Tracking ISM diesel lifting from bulk suppliers
Tracking and have complete visibility to the actual quantity of diesel
fuel delivers to sites at any point in time
Provide detailed analysis of present fuel usage and level of fuel in the
tank at various site and initiate rescue supply when required
Develop and manage trackers and do follow up on all approval
requests, spare request, DG swap, AC swap,etc, that relate to the
responsible zone.
Managing acceptance and signing of ATP documents, JCC and
warranty certificates and site release of new sites and upgrade sites
and ensure that the right specification and standards of passives
elements are deployed to and practiced on sites.
Take part in the management and resolution of community issues that
can affect availability.
Prepare and manage the
annual operating plans
OPEX (AOPs) for all the
active and passive
network systems in Airtel
Nigeria( Financial)
Provide project management function on all Opex saving projects and
energy conservation initiatives infrastructure. Managing Project
progress tracking as well as to report daily, weekly and Monthly on all
aspects within the project management environment.
Track and report achievement of Annual Operating Plan targets and
report Opex savings achieved based on targeted Operating
Expenditure saving initiatives to ensure optimization of all network
investments
Ensure Key focus on variables which decides the energy cost and
recurring operating expenditure of a site such as: Diesel CPH, DG
Run Hours, EB Hours Availability, Battery Backup, EB / Non EB, DG
Capacity, Tenancy count, ID / OD, PHCN Disconnection, Late
payment penalties, Cabinet expansion, PHCN Tariff & Diesel Rate
and drive vendor performance towards achieving desired cost
reduction targets.
Co-ordinate the field trials (such as bio diesel, diesel CPH studies,
diesel catalyst, solar, DC DG, fuel cells, etc). Analyze the results and
advise for the large scale implementation
Extra focus on MSC diesel and electricity cost management
Drive the end to end
process documentation,
implementation and
compliance to
processes, procedures
and policies to ensure
Passive and power equipment data base management. Develop and
keep an up-to-date and accurate passive equipment database and
ensure Periodic audit of all installed power equipment in the network.
Power department budget. Provide input for Preparation of annual
power budget on CAPEX and OPEX,
Report Management: DG swap, Diesel delivery, PHCN reports,
Hybrid, ETC.
Provide input to and manage the implementations of approved
process documents that relate to passive equipment.
Provide input to project plan documentation
Managed procedures and approvals Job order all Job Orders.
Signing of Vendors’ JCC and acceptance seamless operations
across all SP( Process
Management)
Accurate reports and populate trackers.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure that all power equipment specifications such as generator
noise level, smoke emission, etc comply with the minimum regulatory
requirement.
Ensure that all activities of Operations and Maintenance in the Zone
adhere to corresponding regulatory requirements
Partner Management Document and ensure adherence to all processes for effective
management of Partners.

REPORTING TO : Head Enterprise Network Support

JOB PURPOSE:
Direct and validate the delivery of a best in class enterprise solutions that
continually meet business needs of corporate customers by ensuring all
enterprise network strategy (in conjunction with network planning) and plans
meet the quality, cost and time objectives of the business offerings to
corporate, this is via continual improvements in capex productivity and acting
as the vital link between business teams and partners/vendors towards
continually delivering a quality enterprise network experience.

1. Provide recommendations to network planning on solutions best
suited to enterprise customers and Airtel Nigeria that will reduce
opex, maximizing capex productivity and provide a best in class
supporting enterprise infrastructure.
2. Define Airtel Nigeria enterprise network evolution roadmap in line with
group guidelines and local OPCO business strategy and requirement
in a manner best suited to meet short medium and long term
business requirements.
3. Contribute to technology and business planning for the broader
organization by identifying key trends and technologies that can
impact enterprise networks, and contribute towards product strategy
and relevant ideas.
Communicate and work with vendors/partners in order to help drive
the target enterprise network architecture in the network management
areas identified through the innovation process in order to maximize
Airtel long term competitiveness and profitability in conjunction with
planning
Ensure that the annual
operating plans (AOPs)
for all the entreprise

Participate and contribute towards analyzing of the AOP requirements
demanded by business, conduct cost -benefit/ feasibility analysis to
advise the Head of Enterprise networks and planning accordingly
Monitor the implementation of enterprise Network plans ensuring that
it is accordance to implementation project plans and direct
compliance to project delivery.
Provide the validation of Bill of materials/quantity (BoM, BoQ ) and
enterprise network capex plans to ensure only quality and cost
effective plans are implemented.
