Mercy Corps has been working in Nigeria since 2012. With a team of over 25 people, our country programs currently focus on conflict mitigation, economic development, girls’ education, and women and girls’ financial inclusion. Mercy Corps Nigeria is launching a new program, in consortium with other NGOs, aimed at promoting household economic development and financial inclusion.
Under the SUPPORT TO VUNERABLE HOUSEHOLDS FOR ACCELERATED REVENUE EARNINGS (SVH) program, led by Catholic Relief Services, Mercy Corps will help households grow their incomes by building skills and employment readiness to more effectively participate in market opportunities.
Mercy Corps seeks a consultant to provide support for the initial stages of the program.
Consultants
Activities.
1. Design a training curriculum to build the capacity of households within different rural classes to conduct their own market assessment.
2. Conduct a pilot test of the curriculum among select households.
3. Design a curriculum as appropriate for the training of Field agents and Liaison’s on mobile penetration and usage.
4. Conduct a pilot test of the curriculum among select target participants.
Methodology.
The consultant should adapt Mercy Corps existing labor market assessment tools, as well as other relevant tools available from the consortium partners.
Consultant Deliverables.
The consultant will deliver the following set of written deliverables to Mercy Corps:
a. A training curriculum to build the capacity of households to conduct their own market assessment.
b. Result of pilot test of the training curriculum to build the capacity of households to conduct their own market assessment.
c. A curriculum for the training of Field agents and Liaison’s on mobile penetration and usage.
d. Result of pilot test of the training curriculum for the training of field agents and liaison’s on mobile penetration and usage.
Organizational Support.
The consultant will be managed by the SVH Income Generation Team Leader and the Mercy Corps Country Director. Members of Mercy Corps Technical Support Unit (Based in the US and Europe) can provide limited remote technical support, if required.
Timeframe/ Schedule.
Mercy Corps anticipates that this assignment will require 15 Days to complete based on a 5 Day’s work week, subject to discussion and agreement with the consultant. A proposed work plan is outlined below:
