Piping CAD Designer
Job Details
The purpose of the job is to complete a wide variety of difficult design assignments, applying engineering techniques and analysis within one discipline. The Designer at this level is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of most engineering theories and practices. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.
The selected candidate will report to Senior Designer, Lead Designer or Lead Engineer depending on given projects.
Responsibilities;
To ensure Health, Safety and Environment has the highest priority in all activities undertaken by Engineering and Design personnel.Directly responsible for output, may be shared with other Designers, depending on project.Study and understand all company procedures – QMS and Engineering procedures.Preparation of Check-list and Mark-ups on existing drawings for site visit, perform site visit, update drawings based on site findings and prepare input to Site Visit reports.Management of Departmental Project drawing folders and files (electronic, hard copies) in accordance with the Quality assurance procedure of the company, e.g. IDC, IFR, IFA, Client comments, Check prints, Checklists etc., for quality audits.Trained in 3D software to be proficient in preparation of 3D Models, auto-generation of MTOs, detection and modification of clashes between piping, equipment and structural members, extraction of 2D drawings from 3D Models and general presentation of projectsCheck drawings produced by junior Designers.Assist Lead Engineers with MDR list and producing CTR estimates (understanding of scope and requisite man-hours to produce deliverables).Interact with other discipline designers to ensure consistency and constructability of designs.Preparation of General Arrangement drawings, Sections, Elevations, and Details of Flow stations, Jackets, Platforms and decks with specific skills in Steel works and Concrete Arrangement, Connections and Details.Work closely with Engineer and Senior Designer to resolve any existing or forecasted problems related to quality of work, production requirement or productivity.Requirement

Strong Knowledge of corporate policy, Intermediate Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Communications, Controls, Systems and Computer Engineering Principles with exposure to Industry Codes and Standards. Competent in design safety / environmental requirements, procedures / responsibility in F&G, ESD and Package Systems Designs including fiscal metering, compression and power generation facilities, field instruments specification & procurementFamiliarity with originating, reviewing and checking documentation for technical accuracy, precision and consistency with light supervision including Architectural, ESD Logic, Hook-Up and Termination Diagrams, Schematics, Loops, Cause & Effect and SAFE Charts, Equipment Layouts, Cable Schedules, Indexes, I/O Lists, MTO and DatasheetsIntermediate field experience with exposure to site surveys, construction or commissioning support in an Offshore /Onshore Oil and Gas Field / Plant Environment. Ability to understand, interpret and implement P&IDs. Perform site visit activities such as technical client interface, logistics, data mining and collation under supervisionEnsure work assigned is completed satisfactorily, within scope, schedule and budgeting constraints, in fulfillment of project objectives, defined by the quality assurance systemDevelop interpersonal skills interact with discipline members and other disciplines, to obtain the information required to accomplish the workAssist senior and junior personnel to promote and maintain standards & procedures to improve discipline group working practicesIdentify changes in scope and schedule in accordance with the change control process utilizing the tools and mechanisms provided by the quality and enterprise management systemsDevelop interpersonal skills interact with discipline members and other disciplines, to obtain the information required to accomplish the workAssist senior and junior personnel to promote and maintain standards & procedures to improve discipline group working practisesIdentify changes in scope and schedule in accordance with the change control process utilizing the tools and mechanisms provided by the quality and enterprise management systemsObserve personal safe working practises and understand the importance of HSE in design with an awareness of corporate occupational health & safety procedures.Required Skills and Preferred Educational Background:
6-8 years post qualification Discipline Engineering experience in the oil & gas industryBachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electrical / Electronics or Computer Engineering OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or PhysicsStrong Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office Applications with an emphasis on MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint and INTools. Competency in use of design and instruments sizing softwareIntermediate business and technical communication skills.Team oriented, capable of identifying group objectives.Other Relevant Information:
