Job Title: Welder

Job Location: Nigeria

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.Cuts workpiece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form.Installs or repairs equipment, such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings.Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.Removes rough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.Handling and Moving Objects – Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.Controlling Machines and Processes – Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).Getting Information – Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events – Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material – Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.Performing General Physical Activities – Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.Capable of completing responsibility for work projects and conversant with relevant work techniques and legislation.Daily reporting about progress, non-compliance, technical queries and delay in work to the Project Engineer/Administrator and or Project Manager.Troubleshoots any project problems; assures that equipment and materials are properly maintained for efficient operations; reports any process or equipment problems to the Project Engineer/Administrator and or Project Manager.Actively monitor the work environment for hazards; Identify and highlight possible risk on project. Monitor evaluates and ensures that all work is being carried out safely. Implement technical and safety requirements for the project.Attend all tailgate, team briefing, team debriefing and safety meetings.Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Skills Required:

Must have experience welding multiple types of pipe including, but not limited to: carbon steel, stainless steel, and chrome.

Extensive experience in welding and fabrication mainly in the piping and VesselsKnowledge and experience in all QC related activities in Piping, welding, related PipingTechnical background in advanced welding methods and proceduresKnowledge of various international welding equipmentKnowledge and adherence to safety rules, regulations and good housekeeping standardsAdvanced computer skills with the ability to use MS Office with proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint).Good housekeeping standardsFluency in written and verbal English is desirable.Quality control: demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors team and company work to ensure quality.Safety and security: actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.Equipment Selection – Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.Quality Control Analysis – Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.Equipment Maintenance – Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.Repairing – Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.Installation – Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.Operation and Control – Controlling operations of equipment or systems.Mathematics – Using mathematics to solve problems.Written Comprehension – The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.Information Ordering – The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).Visualization – The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged.Mathematical Reasoning – The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.Number Facility – The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.Design – Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.Building and Construction – Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.Engineering and Technology – Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.Production and Processing – Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
