Programmes Manager at Global Peace Foundation (Nigeria)

OVERVIEW

Global Peace Foundation (Nigeria), GPFN is the local chapter of an international organization spanning 15 countries. GPF’s vision is “One Family under God (OFUG)” which seeks to get people to affirm the universal principles common to all faiths. In line with this, Programmes focus on the following 3 broad areas: Inter-faith Partnerships; Strengthening Families and Communities; and Promoting a Culture of Service. There are underlying themes of Gender, Education, Conflict Management, Health, Human Rights and Environment amongst others. GPFN is currently seeking an experienced and versatile Programmes Manager to take strategic and operational responsibility for Programmes in Nigeria, which currently consist of Character and Creativity Initiative (CCI), LEAP Hubs and One Family Under God (OFUG) Campaign Programme.

The position reports directly to the Country Director and works closely with an international team for coordination, with some coaching and professional development. Since there will be overlapping and cooperation between Programmes and Projects, it is ideal for someone with previous experience as a Programme Officer or Senior Programme Officer or Programmes Manager/Director which involved leading and working on multi-faceted Programmes or multiple Projects/Programmes simultaneously.

The Programmes Manager – designs, develops and implements Inter-faith Cooperation and Advocacy Programmes using the OFUG theme in line with GPF’s vision and strategic plan. In addition the Programmes will mobilize, coordinate, facilitate and foster cooperation between a Network of groups and Individuals belonging to State and Local Government CCI and OFUG Chapters. The former will include individuals and groups of different faiths and ethnicities. Whilst the latter will consist of an overall CCI Council of high calibre individuals and Educational Institutions, individuals groups, Associations and NGOs who are concerned with Education and social development of Children and young Adults. Both sets of Stakeholders will participate in their respective Programmes and learn actively and promote the themes outside the Network to the public etc.

 OBJECTIVES: 

1)    Develop the overall Programmes strategy initiative with a long-term, large-scale mindset to ultimately expand to all States in the 6 Geopolitical Zones in a sustainable way. Existing Programmes are:

One Family Under God (OFUG) Campaign – an Inter-faith ProgrammeCharacter and Creativity Initiative (CCI) and LEAP Hubs – Education Programmes

2)    Drive Programmes implementation along a metrics framework  

3)    Develop cross Programme links between all GPFN programmes

4)    Mobilize, coordinate and facilitate stakeholder involvement in and ownership of the Programmes including developing and supporting interactive forums.

5)    Be the link between the Nigerian chapter of the NGO, international leadership, local Stakeholders, Leaders and Policymakers of the respective Programmes

6)    Carry out research and documentation and share findings locally and internationally

7)    Provide ongoing data and communication regarding implementation

8)   Develop new Programmes

  QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Degree or HND in Social Sciences, Theology, Comparative Religions, Religious Studies, Philosophy, Peace and or Conflict Studies,  Education, Management, Business or any other related area5 – 10 years experience of large-scale Programme design, implementation and evaluation2 or more years at Senior Programme Officer/Programme Management level with experience in advocacy or 5 or more years as a Programme Officer with experience in advocacy.Demonstrated success at obtaining unique value added and real results from Stakeholders by mobilizing, coordinating and facilitating their involvement in and ownership of ProgrammesExperience in Events Management and supportDemonstrated ability to achieve strategic objectives and manage a budgetProven Policy Research  and Documentation SkillsExcellent written and verbal communicationDemonstrated ability to work with people fromdiverse local and international backgroundsExcellent Presentation skillsA high level of computer literacy including MS Office, ability to maintain Databases and use various means of electronic communication including email and social media.
