Job Title: Consultant Anesthesiologist


Location: Abuja




Job Description



  • We currently seek to recruit a Licensed Consultant Anesthesiologist who will be responsible to administer anesthetics prior to, during, or after surgery or other medical procedures.


Job Responsibilities



  • Monitor patient before, during, and after anesthesia and counteract adverse reactions or complications.

  • Monitor patient conditions during treatments, procedures, or activities.

  • Record type and amount of anesthesia and patient condition throughout the procedure.

  • Record patient medical histories.

  • Provide and maintain life support and airway management and help prepare patients for emergency surgery.

  • Implement advanced life support techniques.

  • Prepare patients physically for medical procedures.

  • Administer anesthetic or sedation during medical procedures, using local, intravenous, spinal, or caudal methods.Administer anesthetics or sedatives to control pain.

  • Examine patients, obtain medical history, and use diagnostic tests to determine risk during surgical, obstetrical, and other medical procedures.

  • Examine patients to assess general physical condition.

  • Position patient on the operating table to maximize patient comfort and surgical accessibility.

  • Position patients for treatment or examination.

  • Coordinate administration of anesthetics with surgeons during operation.

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to plan or provide treatment.

  • Decide when patients have recovered or stabilized enough to be sent to another room or ward or to be sent home following outpatient surgery.

  • Monitor patient progress or responses to treatments.

  • Confer with other medical professionals to determine type and method of anesthetic or sedation to render patients insensible to pain.

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to plan or provide treatment.

  • Order laboratory tests, x-rays, and other diagnostic procedures.

  • Order medical diagnostic or clinical tests.

  • Inform students and staff of types and methods of anesthesia administration, signs of complications, and emergency methods to counteract reactions.Train medical providers.

  • Provide medical care and consultation in many settings, prescribing medication and treatment, and referring patients for surgery.

  • Refer patients to other healthcare practitioners or health resources.

  • Prescribe treatments or therapies.

  • Prescribe medications.

  • Manage anesthesiological services, coordinating them with other medical activities, and formulating plans and procedures.

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to plan or provide treatment.

  • Direct healthcare delivery programs.

  • Diagnose illnesses, using examinations, tests, and reports.

  • Diagnose medical conditions.

  • Coordinate and direct the work of nurses, medical technicians, and other health care providers.

  • Supervise patient care personnel.

  • Schedule and maintain the use of the surgical suite, including operating, wash-up, waiting rooms, and anesthetic and sterilizing equipment.

  • Schedule medical facility use.

  • Instruct individuals and groups on ways to preserve health and prevent disease.

  • Provide health and wellness advice to patients, program participants, or caregivers.

  • Conduct medical research to aid in controlling and curing disease, to investigate new medications, and to develop and test new medical techniques.

  • Conduct research to increase knowledge about medical issues.


Qualifications



  • Doctor of Medicine Degree with anesthesiology residency

  • Minimum of three years of experience as an anesthesiologist

  • Board-certified in anesthesiology

  • Skilled at epidurals, spinals and ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia (not sure this is required)

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
