POSITION: CONTRACT ENGINEER

The appointee will provide the company with the necessary expertise and experience to support business units in meeting its objectives through the development of contracting strategies, the composition and issue of invitations to tender, objective bid evaluation or negotiation of sole source terms, preparation and award of the final contract, coupled with post award contract administration and reporting, contractor performance management.
The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Supports business to develop contracting strategies and facilitate contract strategy workshop sessions to secure multi-discipline consensual support for contract sourcing plans and strategies.Reviews specifications and Scope of Work for completeness and enables technical functions to translate their requirements into a clearly articulated expression of commercial intent.Develops, compiles and conducts pre-tender meetings, invitation to tender documentation, tender openings and evaluation of tenders received, including detailed analysis of commercial and contractual qualifications, exceptions and deviations.Ensures governance and compliance obligations are fully addressed and documentedProvides ad-hoc support to User functions in support of the contract management process as well as support (where necessary) for non-conformance issues and report on contractual claims, control, cost forecasts and the management of dispute resolution.Draft contract documents, guide contract originators in the use of Contract Procedures, develop scope for services/work to be done and prepare the pricing schedule for the contract (i.e. Schedule of Rates, Bill of Quantities, lump sum, etc.) as well as facilitate contract negotiation, award and close out.Assist in developing and implementing contract Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensure that other sections such as legal and finance are involved in the contracting process as required.The right candidate should:
Possess a Minimum of Bachelors degree (2nd Class Upper Division) in Engineering/Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Law or and Business Management.Have 5 – 7 years post graduation experience with at least 3 years spent in contractual agreements in a reputable industry involving maintenance, shut-downs, projects and facilities management.Have complete understanding of significant legal, local content and commercial issues within supply chainPossess good Communications, Supervisory and Relationship management skillsNot be more than 35 years.Application Deadline: 22nd Sep. 2011
