Production Manager at Yola Renewal Foundation (YRF)




Yola Renewal Foundation (YRF) is a youth-led organization located in Yola the Northeast region of Nigeria; it was founded during the Tearfund movement building work in the Northeast in March, 2017 and has grown rapidly in the last two years into a registered non-governmental organization with Corporate Affairs Commission. It is active in raising awareness, advocacy, and piloting recycling initiatives to tackle Yola’s waste crisis.


We are recruiting to fill the position below:


 


Job Title: Production Manager (Norad Project)



Location: Yola, Adamawa



Employment Type: Full-time


Main Purpose of the Job



  • Overall responsibility for Production line management, Health and Safety, the person will be trained to operate both the Extruder and Shredder. This person will need to travel to other companies as part of learning. Will work closely with Consultant (Technical & Business)

  • The post-holder will be expected to behave in accordance with YRF’s ‘Code of Conduct’


  • To lead or contribute in Christian worship, prayer, teaching and biblical reflections during collective staff prayer times and encourage staff to attend as is appropriate.


Key Duties and Responsibilities



As a production manager, you’ll oversee the production process, coordinating all production activities and operations. You’ll need to:



  • Plan and draw up a production schedule


  • Decide on and order the resources that are required and ensure stock levels remain adequate


  • Select equipment and take responsibility for its maintenance


  • Set the quality standards


  • Ensure that the production will be cost effective by estimating costs and Negotiating and agreeing budgets with both clients and managers


  • Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times


  • Ensure customer orders are completed on time and to budget and that quality Standards and targets are met


  • Work with managers to implement the organization’s policies and goals


  • Collate and analyze data, putting together production reports for both project team and Management


  • Supervise and motivate a team of workers


  • Review worker performance and identify training needs.


  • Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed


  • Monitor productivity rates and product standards and implement quality control programs


  • Organize the repair of any damaged equipment


  • Liaise with different departments, teams and companies, e.g. suppliers, managers, clients


Line Management / Position in the Organization



  • Employed by Yola Renewal Foundation.


  • Responsible to YRF Executive Director


  • Work closely with Tearfund NORAD Project Manager, YRF NORAD Project officer and YRF media team.


  • Collaborates and coordinates closely with the rest of the YRF Team.


  • Work closely with Product Research, Branding and Marketing officer


  • Work closely with consultants


Qualification



  • Degree in Business Management, Operations management, Production or a related field


Experience:



  • 3 years of experience as a Production Manager


  • Experience with managing employees


Skills / Abilities:



  • Planning and organization skills to be able run and monitor the production process


  • The ability to act decisively and solve staff or equipment-related problems


  • The capacity to grasp complex concepts easily


  • The ability to work under pressure and multitask


  • Leadership skills and the ability to motivate others to meet deadlines


  • A results-driven approach to work


  • The ability to work in a logical, systematic manner.


  • ICT literacy to deal with various technologies and programs


  • Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality


  • The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team, managers and clients


  • Strong negotiation skills for getting materials within budget at the right time


Personal Qualities:



  • Committed Christian with a personal relationship with God


  • Committed to regular Christian fellowship with other Christians


  • Commitment to accountabilityto beneficiaries and transparency, showing dignity and respect, and demonstrating listening and understanding


  • Flexibility, ability to remain calm under pressure


  • Willingness to travel up to 8 weeks per year and live in basic conditions


  • Able to hold together both mundane and high-profile tasks


  • Able to maintain confidentiality


  • Christian motivation in relation to injustice and serving those in need.


  • Emotionally and spiritually mature


  • Good team player, and able to work on own initiative


  • Understanding and sensitivity to cross cultural issues
