Job Description
This entry-level position is assigned to the Office of Finance and will report directly to the Senior Budget Officer.
Duties
This position involves assisting with the preparation of budgets and cost proposals of the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC). Duties may include:
Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of the IFDC Operating Budget using the IFDC accounting system (e.g., assisting with the coordination and development of divisional/unit budgets based on preliminary estimates received from division directors; assembling inputs and formatting the information in a concise budget)
Assisting in the development of financial cost proposals for donor consideration and in the preparation of project budgets and supporting budgetary notes (e.g., preparing budget tables, supporting schedules including manpower requirements, fixed fee rate schedules, travel, per diem tables, and certifications)
Assisting in the maintenance of IFDC Project Codes (e.g., numbering distribution, and entering of project numbers in the IFDC Accounting System)
Assisting with the numbering and distribution of contracts (e.g., verifying budget amounts and assigning project codes)
Assisting with the maintenance of IFDC Budget Office Records
Performing a variety of other related minor duties as required
Required Skills
This position requires an understanding of accounting, finance, or business, and the ability toapply that knowledge to perform this position’s duties. This job may involve the following:
Knowledge of accounting and finance standards, principles, practices, and certifications in order to assist in the development and maintenance of contracts, proposals, and budgets
Ability to use a personal computer and various software (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, AccuFund) to prepare budgets, cost proposals, contracts, and maintain databases
Ability to apply basic knowledge of foreign currency translation principles to maintain budgeting records
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally (e.g., to work with international staff in the preparation and maintenance of project budgets, to communicate with potential donors in the preparation of cost proposals)
Required Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
